Chester County-Spring Mill Complex BW

Chester County-Spring Mill Complex BW. Spring Mill Complex, or Michael Gunkle Spring Mill, Located southwest of Devault at the junction of Moores Road and Pennsylvania Route 401, in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. This mill was placed on the National Register of Historical Places, December 14, 1978. The mill was built in 1793, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, stone structure with a gable roof. Also on the property are the 2+1⁄2-story, stone miller's house; a 1-story, stone spring house; a 1-story, stone smoke house; and a 1-story, stone carriage house. The mill remained in continuous operation into the 1940s. Today, this building looks a little different than in the original pictures. The small roof over the fronts steps is no longer there, and a handrail was added. The mill grounds is open for touring.

LAKE COMO-SAN GIOVANNI BW-During one of our daily walks from Bellagio, we headed to San Giovanni. It was a quaint village, very quiet not many tourist which was right up our alley. We saw a lot of interesting sites which made our trip worth every second we spent wandering the countryside. I added some texture to the image which would make this lovely printed on a canvas medium.

A Random Stone Wall bw. This was a stone wall from a house we passed in Italy. I love photographing old, abandoned buildings and adding some texture and special effects to the image. I have been going back and forth with this one all day and finally settled for this look. I think it would look best printed on a canvas to add a little more texture to the image.

TUSCANY-SAN GIMIGNANO LOOK OUTbw was captured on a day trip to the Tuscany area from the city of Florence. This small walled medieval hill town is located in the province of Siena, Tuscany, in north central Italy. The building include examples of both Romanesque and Gothic architecture. The town known for saffron, the Golden Ham, and its white wine, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, produced from the ancient variety of Vernaccia grape which is grown on the sandstone hillsides of the area. I must admit, I was very disappointed to see the merchants that have taken over the area and made more of a tourist trap. I guess everyone has to make a living.

Pompeii-Courtyard in Pompeii. This is the courtyard you walk into after leaving the tour of the city ruins. Now an archeology site, the city of Pompeii was buried under meters of ash after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Touring the site you see the excavated ruins of streets and houses, and molds of humans captured at the moment of death. The tour guides are excellent at recreating the atmosphere of life in Pompeii. This was one of the unexpected highlights of our trip to Italy. We were there for two hours and did not see the entire excavated area.
