Butterfly-Resting Male Monarch. A lovely male monarch butterfly resting on a weigela plant in my backyard garden. This past summer I helped the monarch population grow by collecting the monarch caterpillars from my plants and letting them mature and transform is a safe netted cage. It was fun to watch the process and exciting when the butterfly emerge from its chrysalis state
