    Lake Como-Walking in Belagio vintage

Lake Como-Walking Lake Como, Italy is a lake shaped like an inverted Y. It is the third largest lake in Italy having an area of 56 sq. miles. The lake is 1300 feet deep making it the fifth deepest lake in Europe. The bottom of the lake sits 660 feet below sea level. Lake Como area has been the retreat to many Roman aristocrats and today many famous people own houses throughout the area (no we did not see George Clooney). The lake area is well known for the many villas and gardens that have been built there over the years. It area has a very efficient ferry service linking all the towns. During our trip, we stayed in Bellagio for three nights. Don't expect a lot of nightlife, it is quiet and relaxing. Great place to have your morning cappuccino and pastry while enjoying the lovely scenes on Lake Como, Belagio vintage.

    LAKE COMO-WALKING BACK TO BELLAGIO

LAKE COMO-WALKING BACK TO BELLAGIO we passed this beautiful church. There were no signs identifying this magnificent church and I tried to google it but had no sucess. It sits alone up on a hill, surrounded by a wrought iron fence.

LAKE COMO-CHIESA CRISTO RE-On our walk back from San Giovanni to Bellagio, we passed this abandoned church. I am always drawn to these distressed buildings. To me, they are beautiful. The weather beaten look has such a strong affect on me. The cracks, peeling paint and even the mold add so much character to these buildings. It is so sad when people can not see the beauty in these building and tear them down to build in it’s place a more modern structure.

Lake Como-Hills of Bellagio Countryside. Walking through the countryside in Italy was one of most enjoyable excursions we have taken. Bellagio was one of my favorite places when we traveled to Italy. My husband, on the other hand, enjoyed the scenes but he felt it was a little to slow paced for him. He is more of a city guy while I am more country. He enjoyed the long and sometimes challenging walks, but was ready to leave when our three days we up.

    LAKE COMO-LAKE COMO SUNSET

LAKE COMO-LAKE COMO SUNSET-On our visit to Varenna we decided to hang out until evening and take a walk along the water’s edge. We were not expecting much of a sunset because it was a little on the hazy side most of the day. By late afternoon, it cleared to beautiful blue skies, and we were hoping to see a magnificent sunset. It was truly picturesqe. The sun setting behind the mountains gave off a golden glow along the horizon, against the backdrop of a bright blue sky. Add in the silohuette of the mountains against the sky, a boat crusing the lake and the evening residential lights added to the dramatic view. This sight was well worth waiting for.
