Custom House Tower in Boston another view. The tower stands at 65ft. in McKinley Sq. The tower has copper-sheathed couplet windows, an illuminated observation deck. Each of the four sides has a 22-foot-wide marble-and-bronze clock. At the time of the construction of the new building, there was a city ordinance which capped the height of the building to 215 feet. Because the property was owned by the Federal Government, they were permitted to by-pass the height restriction, and was built to the height of 495 feet. It held the title of Boston’s first skyscraper and tallest building until the completion of the Prudential Tower in 1964.
